Investing in AI for Good

Source: Stanford Social Innovation Review - SSIR

In this contribution to the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Ben Brockman and his co-authors from IDinsight propose a framework for identifying the biggest AI opportunities for social impact, and identify three areas primed for investment.

The framework looks at the potential risks of each proposed project, as well as the size of potential impact, implementation feasibility, and opportunity area synergies.

They suggest that three areas appear optimal for near-term investment: medical diagnostic tools, communication support for marginalized communities and languages, and agricultural yield prediction.
